" A wise man should consider that health is the greatest of human blessings" -Hippocrates
Good health is a state of optimal physical, mental and emotional well-being that enables us to respond appropriately to all kinds of stressors while maintaining a state of internal equilibrium. It goes beyond the absence of acute or chronic illness. The source of the disease can be any challenge to the body which creates disharmony, be it environmental, physical, and /or emotional. Unfortunately, most people pay little attention to their state of health until it is compromised.
I recommend "wellness check-ups" just as we routinely perform dental check-ups. Dis-ease can only ensue when the body is out of balance as a result of weakened immunity, exhausted resources, or the obstruction of the free flow of life energy (QI) which animates every living cell. The balance, quality and quantity of " QI" directly affects every bodily function.
The Holistic Approach- Treating the root as well as the manifestation of disease
Our approach to healing uses the the holistic model. Treatment involves alleviating symptoms, but more importantly treating the root of the disease. Our bodies, the most intelligent creation known , has its unique way of informing us of internal disharmony (dis-ease)- minor aches, pain and discomfort. In the West we have learnt to camouflage these warning signs with OTC (over the counter medictaions). PMS, Indigestion, IBS, Constipation, Allergies, Insomnia, Headaches, Low Back pain, recurrent bouts of the Common Cold and Influenza are all examples of minor illnesses, the symptoms of which we routinely supress with OTC medications. And the list of diseases goes on and on. This approach not only fails to correct the underlying imbalance, but can create further disharmony as most, if not all of these drugs do have side effects.
Our Treatment Modalities
Acupuncture
The term Acupuncture loosely describes a family of procedures involving the stimulation of energetic points anatomically located on specific pathways called meridians. This DOES NOT neccesarliy involve the insertion of needles, especially in the treatment of children.(see 'About Acupuncture')
Chinese Herbology
The use of chinese herbs in clinical pratice is specific to individual needs, and are prescribed according to their energies, flavours, movements and meridian pathways. Most disorders have many different symptoms requiring the use of many herbs. Consequently we prescribe formulas containing a combination of several different herbs.
Homeopathy-Physiologically Regulating Medicine
At Synergie, we use the "Guna Method" of Physiologically Regulating Medicine which is an integration of traditional homeopathy and conventional medicine. Prescribed remedies are designed to activate the body's innate healing mechanisms and are totally safe, even for infants.
Nutrition and Lifestyle
Good Nutrition is the foundation of Good health. We truly are what we eat. How we eat, how much we eat and when we eat are all factors that ultimately affect our capacity for wellness. In addition, at Synergie we teach and encourage proper sleep hygiene, adequate exercise, and relaxation/ stress reduction techniques.
We welcome the opportunity to help you. Our intention is for your good health and wellness.
